Bio
Anna Suonsyrjä (b.1991, Tampere/FIN) has worked as a freelance producer, singer, publicist, facilitator and event organizer. She likes to work among multidisciplinary projects where commonly accepted hierarchies are turned up side down.
Artist Statement
My work explores the hidden policies of public spaces, ownership and power. My current research and MA thesis deals with gender issues in communication, public speaking and singing. I investigate public speaking norms and the way authoritative voice is defined. I aim to get closer to answers on how to make public communication more inclusive and fair, how to discover unequal structures and change them. My constant struggle to identify to only one profession seems infinite while my interests are in actually creating art and music but also working constantly for creating new platforms and possibilities to collaborate and share experiences and knowledge through art, politics and activism.
