Artist Statement
In my practice, I create surrealistic horror-themed artworks with a humoristic twist.
I am interested in each detail that creates an uncanny atmosphere of the work and focuses on how to keep the horrifying mood while using bright colors and daylight, instead of dark elements.
I search for beauty in an uncanny, obsessing with aesthetics that are considered ugly, researching fear factors, disgust, things twisted and odd. I want the audience to face their fears, emotions, reality and find the beauty in the uncanny, too.
I work across artistic disciplines, and I choose the materials and techniques based on the project. I am continuously learning and developing my skills, working with materials such as oil paint, eggshells, human hair, holes, bones, teeth, strings, trash, and creating my dough and paper mashes.
‘Repulsive but Delicious’ is a short horror film representing my artistic practice, breaking the borders of beauty and ugliness, proving that reality, life, and the world are quite repulsive but is simultaneously undeniably delicious.
