Dream as sculpture
Abstract
I will be presenting two works I produced during 2017-2018: a collection of dream-diary zines and a performance video. The works serve as examples of my attempts to develop the skill of lucid dreaming through an artistic practice.
The works compose the productional part of my master’s thesis work. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I make an effort to look at the images, writing, objects and performances I’ve made as instruments for shaping the way I perceive dreams. I call this process dream sculpture. I derive the concept from fluxus artist Louwrien Wijers who defines the focus of her artistic work as mental sculpture.
I’ll focus on opening up the practicalities of my working process and the thinking behind them.
