Artist Statement
As an artist Lehto aims to create new, playful, often a bit twisted or whimsical versions of reality. Lehto believes art is a powerful tool to open new viewpoints by tickling the imagination. The Garden series she is currently working with, explores the themes of nature, inner growth and importance of play. Many of her works are connected to these themes and understanding traditions.
Lehto’s practice is connected to visual arts, creative thinking and design – she moves between different materials and mediums. In her process, she is typically using a multi-sensorial approach combining music, visual arts and working by hand.
She also acts as a teacher and facilitator; in her public workshops she is working with participants by using different art related techniques to unlock creative thinking. Lehto strongly believes art is everyman’s right and it is deeply connected to human nature.
